THE STORY BEHIND THE 'JAVA MAN' NAME:

The name of our cafe originated as a unique and fun way to educate our customers with the truth about one of the most known examples of supposed human evolution – the infamous Java Man.

Java Man (Pithecanthropus Erectus) was discovered on the Isle of Java around 1891 and purported to be a ‘missing link’ of evolution.

Rarely stated to the public is the fact that the only remains found were the cap of a skull, a femur bone, and a tooth. From these three scattered pieces, a creature similar to what is featured on our logo was ‘artistically’ created, and the discovery of Java Man was used to push the myth of human evolution.

Enjoy our coffee but don’t be fooled… you are not evolved from ape-like ancestors, you are wonderfully made! (Psalm 139:14) – David Rives
